BMW Motorrad teases a new sportbike: Is the F 450 RR coming on 15 October?

Just two weeks after the F 450 R, BMW Motorrad is following up: a night-time teaser image shows the silhouette of a fully faired sportbike. The reveal follows on Thursday, 15 October 2026, at 5 pm CEST. Much suggests the 450 family is about to be completed.
"Something's waiting in the fast lane"
BMW Motorrad has published a new teaser image on Instagram. The caption hints that something is waiting in the fast lane and invites the community to guess. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, 15 October 2026, at 5 pm CEST. Interest is high: within a short time the post collected more than 9,000 likes and almost 300 comments.
The staging is strongly reminiscent of the F 450 R teaser: night, city backdrop, street lights, the bike almost completely in shadow. This time it stands under a motorway bridge next to a guardrail, with an illuminated skyline in the background.
What the teaser image reveals
Even though BMW deliberately keeps the bike in the dark, the silhouette gives away quite a lot:
Full fairing with windscreen: Clearly a sportbike, not a naked bike or crossover.
Slim LED light signature: A sharply drawn daytime running light at the front, typical of BMW's current design language.
Fairing-mounted mirrors: The mirrors sit on stalks level with the top of the fairing.
Upside-down fork and single brake disc: As on the F 450 GS and F 450 R, there appears to be just one disc at the front. A clear sign against a larger model.
Compact proportions: Short, raised tail, twin-sided swingarm and no dominant side silencer. That fits the underslung exhaust of the 450 platform.
Moderate riding position: The clip-ons are not extremely low, pointing to sporty everyday usability rather than track-focused radicalism.
A word of caution: with the F 450 R teaser, BMW already noted that the image had been enhanced with AI. Details of the production bike may therefore differ from the silhouette.
Why everything points to the F 450 RR
BMW has not yet named the bike. The clues, however, are clear:
The family logic: The former single-cylinder range consisted of the G 310 GS, G 310 R and G 310 RR. The new twin-cylinder family appears to follow the same pattern: the F 450 GS adventure bike was followed on 1 October 2026 by the F 450 R naked bike. The sporty third member is still missing.
The prototypes: As early as February 2026, a fully faired, black-camouflaged prototype with a BMW brake caliper was spotted testing in India. The 450 models are built by BMW's partner TVS in India.
The timing: EICMA in Milan opens at the beginning of November. With the RR on 15 October, BMW would have the complete 450 trio together in time for Europe's most important motorcycle show.
The imagery: "Fast lane" plus a full fairing – it hardly gets more RR without saying the name.
What to expect technically
Since the F 450 R was unveiled only a week ago, it is easy to estimate what the RR is likely to build on:
Engine: 420 cc parallel twin with a 135-degree crankshaft, 48 hp (35 kW) at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm – exactly at A2 level.
Weight: An A2 bike using the full 35 kW must weigh at least 175 kg ready to ride. The F 450 R hits that figure exactly. With its fairing, the RR is likely to come in slightly above.
Chassis: Tubular steel frame with the engine as a stressed member, aluminium swingarm, KYB suspension with gold fork tubes, and a 310 mm disc with a radially mounted Brembo four-piston caliper at the front.
Electronics: Riding modes, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, engine drag torque control and a 6.5-inch TFT. On the F 450 R, the M Sport variants also offer Sport Screens with lean angle and braking displays plus a lap timer – practically made for an RR.
Options: Shift Assistant Pro, a reversible shift pattern for the track, and the Easy Ride Clutch, which BMW offers on the F 450 R as part of the Innovation Package.
It will be exciting to see how much BMW adapts the chassis geometry and ergonomics for the RR, and whether its styling quotes the S 1000 RR as clearly as the F 450 R quotes the S 1000 R.
Price and market launch
There is no official information yet. The F 450 R serves as a reference: in Germany it costs between 6,490 and 7,220 euros and is expected to be delivered there from June 2027. With its fairing and windscreen, the RR is likely to be priced slightly higher. We expect Swiss prices with the official presentation.
The G 310 RR was never officially sold in Europe. With an F 450 RR, BMW would therefore offer a small supersport bike for the European market for the first time – in a segment that is currently growing strongly. Rivals such as the Aprilia RS 457, Yamaha R3 and KTM RC 390 would face a competitor with a twin-cylinder engine, comprehensive electronics and the ambition to bring the RR DNA of the superbikes into the A2 class.
On 15 October at 5 pm we will know more. We will report as soon as the covers come off.
