BMW X3 M50 xDrive: Black Package and 443 hp.

The BMW X3 M50 xDrive is getting a noticeable update at the end of the year. From December 2026, the M Performance model of the G45 generation gains a substantial power boost, and the new Black Package is the first exclusive equipment package reserved solely for the top model of the X3 range. At the same time, the entire X3 family receives targeted interior upgrades.

45 hp more for the straight-six

The most important news applies to every X3 M50 xDrive, regardless of specification: the 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology now delivers 326 kW (443 hp). That is 33 kW (45 hp) more than before (293 kW/398 hp).

As a result, the X3 M50 xDrive sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Using the "1-foot rollout" method common in the US, where timing only starts after 30.48 cm of travel, it takes just 4.1 seconds. The six-cylinder also now meets the Euro 7 emissions standard, giving it extra future-proofing for the years ahead.

Important: the power increase is not part of the Black Package. It comes as standard on every X3 M50 xDrive from December.

Black Package: exterior in black

Visually, the Black Package relies on motorsport-inspired accents. Its centrepiece is the exclusive 22-inch M light-alloy wheels Polygon 1134 M in black, which for the first time extend the wheel range of the X3 M50 xDrive by one inch. Those who prefer different rims can opt for other M light-alloy wheels.

Behind the spokes sit the M Sport brake calipers, exclusively finished in high-gloss black with a monochrome M logo. To match, the M logos and model lettering are also finished in high-gloss black with a silver outline.

Interior with Alcantara and blue accents

Inside, the package is even more extensive. Black BMW Individual Alcantara covers parts of the instrument panel on the driver's side, the area in front of the central display, the smartphone tray with inductive charging, the door panels and the centre console armrest. The M logo is embossed into the Alcantara of the headrests.

The specific Alcantara/Veganza seat covers combine black with blue stitching and piping. The black floor mats with black piping feature a small flag in the M colours. The look is rounded off by M interior trims in aluminium with M carbon structure, selected controls with BMW Individual CraftedClarity glass applications, and an M steering wheel with an exclusive leather-covered airbag cover.

The Black Package remains exclusive to the X3 M50 xDrive and is not available for other X3 variants.

Upgrades for the entire X3 range

The other models benefit from December 2026 as well. The area in front of the central display now features a PVC softskin surface, and the instrument panel gets a new stitching pattern. The centre console storage compartment and the inner door handles receive ambient lighting. A redesigned glovebox opener and, on the X3 30e xDrive and M50 xDrive, stainless steel load-sill protection strips complete the changes.

All X3 models with the M Sport package as well as the M Performance models also get Dark Silver door sill plates with a black M logo. On the powertrain side, the four-cylinder of the X3 20 xDrive is switched to Euro 7.

With 443 hp, the X3 M50 xDrive moves a good deal closer to the full M models in terms of performance without giving up its everyday character as an M Performance SUV. The Black Package will appeal above all to those who want a darker, more exclusive look for their X3, with the 22-inch wheels likely making the strongest visual statement. BMW has not yet announced Swiss pricing.
