Brad Binder Moves to WorldSBK: BMW Factory Rider from 2027.

After seven years in MotoGP, the South African is taking on a new challenge. BMW Motorrad Motorsport has confirmed Brad Binder as its new factory rider for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
BMW Motorrad Motorsport announced one of the most exciting rider moves of the coming season: Brad Binder will race the BMW M 1000 RR in the FIM Superbike World Championship from 2027. For the 30-year-old, it is a career step that deserves attention.
The Key Facts
Binder rides for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team in 2027.
His teammate will be Miguel Oliveira (POR).
It is Binder's WorldSBK debut after seven years in MotoGP.
Danilo Petrucci leaves the WorldSBK project after the 2026 season.
A Reunion with Miguel Oliveira
The rider pairing is particularly interesting. Binder and Oliveira know each other well: they were teammates in Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP. Now the two are coming together again in the BMW factory team.
Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport, sees great potential in the combination. He says the two complement each other perfectly, both in character and in riding style. For a factory team, an established rider pairing is a real advantage, especially when it comes to setup work and further development of the M 1000 RR.
Binder's Career at a Glance
Binder began his international career in Moto3 in 2012. In 2016 he became Moto3 World Champion and then moved up to Moto2. For the 2020 season he stepped up to MotoGP, where he has won two races and taken nine further podium finishes.
Now comes a fresh start. Instead of a pure prototype, WorldSBK features superbikes derived from production motorcycles. Binder will have to get used to a new bike and to a new championship with its own rules and circuits. Blusch is confident he will manage this quickly. According to BMW, the goal is clear: Binder wants to fight for the world championship title.
Farewell to Danilo Petrucci
The flip side of the news: Danilo Petrucci's time in BMW's WorldSBK project ends after the 2026 season. BMW thanks him for his great commitment. Options for continuing the collaboration in other projects are currently being examined, but nothing concrete has been announced yet.
With Binder, BMW is signing a world champion and Grand Prix winner who brings the experience of seven MotoGP seasons. Paired with a familiar teammate in Oliveira, this is a clear signal: BMW wants to be at the front in WorldSBK in 2027. How quickly Binder finds his feet on the M 1000 RR will become clear in the first tests and races. We'll keep following the story.
