BMW and New York streetwear label Kith are following up with "Chapter IV" of their ongoing collaboration – and this time the X5 takes center stage. For Monterey Car Week 2026, the two partners are showing two vehicles that could hardly be more different: a radically rebuilt X5 E53 from the year 2000, and a brand-new X5 from the Neue Klasse generation.
An X5 with a V10 heart
At the heart of the collaboration is a first-generation BMW X5 E53, which Kith founder Ronnie Fieg has fitted with a 5.0-liter V10 engine of the S85 type – the same unit originally used in the E60 M5 and E63 M6, where it produced 500 hp. The V10 is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the E53's original all-wheel-drive system has been retained.
The restoration of the vehicle is said to have taken over a year. Fieg himself describes it as a "complete rotisserie restoration" and calls the project the most detailed and elaborate build in the Kith-BMW series to date. The E53 is painted in Titanium Silver Metallic.
The 2027 X5: Frozen Titanium Silver as the connecting thread
As a modern counterpart, BMW and Kith are presenting a 2027 X5 based on the Neue Klasse platform. It wears an exclusive matte special finish called Frozen Titanium Silver, intended as a modern interpretation of the color used on the restored E53. The look is rounded out with special "X5 KITH" badges and, according to early teaser shots, seats with carbon elements.
Unlike previous chapters of the collaboration, this X5 is explicitly presented as a one-off, or show car. A customer version is not currently planned.

Chapter IV in the series of Kith collaborations
The partnership between BMW and Kith now spans several years:
Chapter I (2020): BMW M4 Competition x Kith in Cinnabar Red, 150 units
Chapter II: BMW i4 M50 in Vitality Green, limited to 7 examples
Chapter III: BMW XM x Kith, 47 vehicles produced at around $199,000 each, accompanied by a rebuilt M1
Chapter IV: BMW X5 E53 (V10 build) and 2027 X5 in Frozen Titanium Silver
Each chapter pairs a historically significant BMW model with a current vehicle – the older design provides the stylistic basis for the color and design of the new interpretation.
Companion collection and presentation
Alongside the vehicle presentation, Kith is launching a matching BMW-themed fashion collection on August 17, 2026: besides apparel, the lineup also includes accessories such as a license plate holder and floor mats in X5 design, as well as a 1:18-scale model of the Inka Orange BMW 3.0 CSi, which Fieg has also restored.
Both X5 vehicles will be on display during Monterey Car Week at the BMW Villa in Pebble Beach. Whether and in what form the V10 E53 or elements of the 2027 X5 will make their way into a customer version remains open for now – but given the previous chapters, a limited special edition can't be ruled out.
